Although names like Ken Outrage and Mark CERN are the most recognizable when we talk about the design and architecture of PlayStation of Sony Interactive Entertainment, who was responsible for supervising the creation of PS4 and PS5. Now, recently it has been announced that Ito will retire this year, thus abandoning PlayStation.
Through a brief statement from PlayStation, it was announced that Ito will leave its position as head of SHE hardware on October 1 . However, the architect will continue to collaborate in the Mobility Division and as an executive advisor until March 2023.
Masalas Ito is a mechanical engineer, graduated from the University of Based, who began his career within Sony in 1986. During his early years he was recognized by the Phone LCD screen, some peripherals of the PS2, the mechanical engineering of the PSP, and became the leader of PS3 hardware engineering. In 2008, he took the position of Vice President of SCSI hardware engineering, where he supervised the architecture of the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation VR, the PS4 Pro and, recently, the PS5.
Regarding his successor, Lin Tao will take the role of Ito as director of engineering and hardware operation in Japan . For his part, Idea Fishing, who took Senior Vice President in March 2021, will be responsible for the new PlayStation platform. Considering that we are talking about a retirement, we are very likely not listening to more than it in the future.
